This stylized shell design was first used by Tony Duquette for his house in Paris c. 1950, and throughout his career. In the 18th century, “Rocaille” referred to a type of Rococo decoration using shells, corals and river stone. Tony Duquette called his version “Natural Baroque.” Our cast resin sconce is based on an original example found in Duquette’s warehouse. Each with slight, unique variations inherent in the material and due to the hand-made nature of the resin.
