The crisp lines of the Minerva Lantern are formed by three gently curving square sectioned arms angling off of a central sphere and leading to an outer ring, to which the a clear glass cylinder is fastened. Behind the glass, a three light cluster echoes the geometric form of the top. The historical precedents of this lantern are clear and present, but we've reduced the materiality and surface details to such a point that only the spare waves in the blown glass cylinder and the line of the solid brass framing separate this from its shadow. Each with slight, unique variations due to the hand-made nature of the glass. Part of a collection of minimal ceiling fixtures designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects for Remains Lighting.
