Custom Spotlight – A Look Into Our Process

CUSTOM SPOTLIGHT Tasked with making a family of traditional wall lanterns, we took our clients Milanese design inspiration and scope of work and brought the project to life starting with pencil and paper drawings. Working part by part, process by process, through all of the engineering challenges, the hundreds of disparate parts and different craft techniques coalesced into a unified whole.

In the end, it’s really all about the details! Finials, scrolls, leaf castings, all hand-finished in a mottled dark verdigris patina were added to the traditionally-inspired frame holding restoration glass. The fixtures now grace the facade of a classical limestone San Francisco home where their patina will continue to deepen over time. Perhaps passers-by will ask themselves what early 20th century architect built this place 100+ years ago.
