Our friend Michael Smith contacted us last year while working on the Obama White House. He had in mind that we could arrange a donation of a pair of our candlesticks from the Tony Duquette collection. That Michael Smith wanted to place the work of an earlier iconic American designer in the “people’s house” completely tickled us and we agreed.

We recently received an official looking letter from the White House Curator, quickly followed by one from the National Park Service Liaison to the White House, acknowledging our donation.

The pieces were designed for Remains by Hutton Wilkinson, Tony Duquette’s business partner, using ostrich eggs, serpentine, gilt bronze, and onyx. If you are not familiar with Duquette’s work, there’s more information here: http://www.remains.com/designers/duquette/
